It's a new game for Wii and it's creative. de Blob was designed by Dutch students that shuns violence and promotes creativity in the video game era.

I remember as a kid not being allowed to play video games and instead being enrolled in classes at RISD (Rhode Island School of Design). For kids today the art programs are still there however the new rage is video gaming so this game seemed the sensible next step.

The concept: "Long live color!" and fight back from monochromatic mediocrity. It's an action puzzle game that allows players to explore and embark on a quest to re-animate and re-colorize the city. Splatter buildings, landmarks, and citizens with color.

Interested?... it's being made for Wii, Nintendo DS, and the iPhone.

I still prefer the "old school" way of creating art (with my own hands) but to each their own and whatever gets kids interested in art is okay in my book.

Holiday

I'm leaving for a July 4th holiday and won't be posting until Tuesday.

Independence Day photos

I'd like to do the same thing I did for Memorial Day weekend. Photographers and illustrators send in some work you do the week of July 4th and I'll post it here on the blog (the week after) with a bit of info and linkage. Depending on the number of submissions I'll probably post one photo per person.

The objective of this (in my mind) is to showcase your talent and what you do best and have some fun. I'm a big fan of 4th of July festivities so any incorporation of these will be a bonus but not necessary.

Memorial Day Preparations

Sorry no Artist Friday post today but what I would like to do is wish all the US photographers, reps, associates, families, etc. a very Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

Take lots of great photos of the happenings around you, whether chaotic or quiet, landscape or lifestyle, and your Memorial Weekend activities.
Send them on over to me and I'll post photos next week with a short bio on the photographers (with copyright and linkage of course).
